Welcome to my NONprofit knitting atelier.

Hi, I’m Kim, a daytime executive assistant / after-hours artisan based in Philadelphia. Bertolette Craft Outfitting is my personal project to engage in the slow fashion movement and use my hobby for good, named in honor of my late grandmother who taught me how to knit as she made donations for local charities. Continuing in that same spirit, I donate 100% of the proceeds from:
selling my knitting patterns on Ravelry,
vending at local markets, and
custom knitwear commissions
to local causes here in Philly.
Although I’ve been knitting for over 25 years, my foray into garment-making began on January 2 in the auspicious year of 2020, when I bought the yarn to embark on a fresh New Year’s Resolution of knitting my first sweater. I’ve been professionally knitting ever since, including preview knits for Quince & Co. and test knits for independent designers such as Joanna Filip, Kolibri by Johanna, and Lis Smith for Brooklyn Tweed. You can browse my portfolio of personal and professional knits here, including my wedding dress!
For a more behind-the-scenes look at my works in progress, be sure to follow me on Instagram for the latest on my needles :)

Are you looking to order a custom knit? Here’s a quick overview of what the process entails:
Get inspired. Browse the Portfolio and Inspiration pages for ideas — take note of any particular designers or elements that catch your eye!
Submit your commission request. When you’re ready, you’ll fill out a brief request form so we can discuss budget, timeline, and other planning details.
Choose your design. We’ll work together to select the perfect pattern, yarn, and sizing to fit your vision. You’ll pay a deposit for the cost of the yarn and any other materials to be ordered.
Stay tuned. Once the yarn arrives, the knitting begins! Keep an eye out for progress updates on my ig (@bertolette.co) in the meantime. When your project is complete, you’ll pay the balance of the labor cost (100% donated to local causes we’ll have discussed), plus any shipping.
Wear it with pride. Your custom knit will not only be handmade with quality materials and meticulous construction, but a love of the craft and spirit of generosity imbued in every stitch. Enjoy it in coziness & adventure alike for years to come.
Ready to get started? The Commission Request Form awaits!

Because I specialize in bespoke knitwear, I do not have an online store or Etsy with ready-to-wear items. However, I do participate in occasional craft markets here in Philly - stay tuned to my Instagram for updates on my next market appearance!
