Welcome to my NONprofit knitting atelier.
Hi, I’m Kim, a free-time fiber artist in Philadelphia. I launched Bertolette Craft Outfitting as a way to engage in the slow fashion movement while using my hobby for good.
-
Bertolette Craft Outfitting is a personal project to use my hobby as a vehicle to raise funds for local causes I care about. How do I do that?
Selling my knitting patterns on Ravelry
Vending at local markets
Offering commissions for custom knitwear
I donate 100% of the proceeds from these activities to specified causes, which at the moment are Homies Helping Homies and the Seamen’s Church Institute of Philadelphia.
Donations are forwarded on a rolling basis (for example, pattern sales are forwarded monthly after receiving my Ravelry statement, but proceeds from a vending event can be calculated and forwarded at the conclusion of the event.) I keep detailed records and receipts of all my activities and donations, and will post seasonal progress reports here beginning this summer. So stay tuned! :)

Are you looking to order a custom knit? Commissions for the 2026 Fall/Winter Season are currently open!
A quick overview of what the process entails:
Get inspired. Browse the Portfolio and Inspiration pages for ideas — take note of any particular designers or elements that catch your eye!
Submit your commission request. When you’re ready, fill out the brief request form below so we can discuss budget, timeline, and other planning details. Generally speaking, you should submit a request with at least 3 months’ lead time.
Choose your design. We’ll work together to select the perfect pattern, yarn, and sizing to fit your vision. You’ll pay a deposit for the cost of the yarn and any other materials to be ordered.
Stay tuned. Once the yarn arrives, the knitting begins! Keep an eye out for progress updates on my ig (@bertolette.co) in the meantime. When your project is complete, you’ll pay the balance of the labor cost (100% donated to local causes), plus any shipping.
Wear it with pride. Your custom knit will not only be handmade with quality materials and meticulous construction, but a love of the craft and spirit of generosity imbued in every stitch. Enjoy it in coziness & adventure alike for years to come.
